Who are the "GAINESVILLE CHAIN HAWKS" ?

We are the one of largest and most active disc golf clubs in the state of Florida. We are very involved with our community and have a close relationship with the city and county parks department.

Our Mission: Is to grow this fabulous sport. Give to our community. Create friendships and connections.

Since our inception we have made major changes to The city of Gainesville's Northside DGC, including adding alternate pin locations, additional am Pads, two new holes, maintaining an informational kiosk, and constantly staying on top of the tee signs verifying there accuracy on pin location and distances.

Our club also lobbied with the county for quite some time ( Special Thanks to Jeff Wright ) to allow us as a club to install another course on the west side of town. Jonesville DGC was designed by Tony Pessina and Jeff Wright. The County provided the baskets and the rest was up to us. We broke ground in early 2012. All the machinery and labor was donated by our club members, Eight months later we played our first inaugural round there as a club.  The very first Jonesville DGC Ace was made by Tyler Swanson on hole 4 during this round. Since then we have been continuing to make improvements, we donated and built benches, alternate pin locations, new tee signs.

We as a club host multiple PDGA events every year as well as a few non sanctions tournaments per year. We also have collaborated with a rival club ( Ocala DGC ) thus creating a two day tournament that spans two counties called "The Battle of 441".  On average we run two disc golf teaching clinics per year with our local pros Garret Gurthie, Evan Gurthie, Matt Tittle,  Collin Forehand, and Dustin Travaglini.

We have many league rounds per week, Wednesdays we have a doubles round, Friday we play short-pad doubles, and Sunday we host our weekly handicap league.

Recently we have gone as far as to gather many of the club members personal practice baskets and go to  different public parks and play a round of "Pirate Golf" or "Gorilla Golf". This is a great way to expose people to the sport who otherwise might not be.
